One Woman Dead…Another Arrested Charged With Murder

DECATUR-The Decatur police Department issued a release on the shooting that took place on Acadia Drive in Decatur on Monday, August 7 resulting in the death of one and the arrest of another woman on Murder charges:

“On August 7th, 2017 at approximately 11:30 am the Morgan County E911 Center received a call of a shooting at 2215 Acadia Drive Sw. Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Patrol Division, Decatur Fire and Rescue, and First Response Ambulance Service were dispatched to the scene.
Officers arrived on scene and located Caridad Stripe lying in the parking lot of the apartment complex suffering from what appeared to be a single gunshot wound to the chest.
Officers attempted to provide medical aid until Decatur Fire and Rescue arrived on scene. Stripe was transported to Decatur Morgan Hospital Parkway Campus where she was pronounced deceased.
Members of the Decatur Police Department’s Violent Crimes Unit were notified of the shooting and made their way to the scene. Detective Jodi Fuller, with the Family Services Unit heard the suspect’s vehicle description broadcast over the radio and located the vehicle fleeing the scene.
Detective Fuller was able to stop the vehicle at the intersection of Old Moulton Road and Moadus Road SW. The sole occupant, Latoria McGuire was detained by Fuller pending further investigation.
At the conclusion of the investigation Detective Pace, with the Violent Crimes Unit placed McGuire under arrest for Murder. McGiure’s bond was set at $250,000.00 by Morgan County Circuit Judge Jennifer Howell. She will be held in the Morgan County Jail pending bond.”
