Larry Gene “Ice Cream” Davis – Obituary

Larry Gene “Ice Cream” Davis, 65 died Friday, August 4, 2017 at his residence.  He was born in Red Bay, AL to Albert Shelby and Earlue Childers Davis.  He retired from teaching at Hamilton after 38 years.  He drove a school bus for 29 years and coached basketball and girls track and cross country.  He was a pastor for 44 years.

Services will be Monday, August 7, 2 p.m. at Shottsville Methodist Church with Bro. Jimmy Lucas officiating.  Burial will be in Shottsville Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

Survivors include three children-Lagena Davis (Tony Fuqua), Laddie Davis (Misty) and Laura Davis (Carlos Hines); ten grandchildren-Selena Owens, Robert Davis, Onyx Hines, Destine Fuqua, Cody Davis, Rebecca Davis, Corwyn Fuqua, Lexton Hines, Richard Davis and Rachel Davis; one great-grandchild-Piper Rogers; two brothers-Billy Wayne Davis (Dean) of Statesboro, GA and Jerry Lane Davis (Julia) of Red Bay; four nieces and nephews-Jeff Davis (Dana), Stacie Sutton, Jason Davis (Brandie) and Jessica Jackson (Derck).

He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson-Shelby Heath Davis.

Visitation will be Sunday, August 6, 6-9 p.m. at Shottsville Methodist Church.
