Lloyd Jones, Jr., affectionately known as “Bay Bro” was born to the late Lloyd Jones, Sr., and Annie Matt Jones on July 26, 1939. He was baptized at the age of 11 under the Pastorship of the Reverend Edward Morton at Union Hill Cumberland Presbyterian Church in America. Lloyd held to his faith in God and sang His praises even when his memory began to fail. God called him to eternal rest during the early morning of August 1, 2017.

Lloyd graduated from Council High School in 1959. He attended two years at Alabama A&M University and was the quarterback of the football team. He married Bertha Mae Love in 1962. He worked for the City of Huntsville in Parks and Recreation and counseled many teenagers and young adults, while refereeing baseball, softball, basketball, and football games. Lloyd was a talented self taught musician. He played piano, drums, guitar and the bass guitar. His voice was compared to Lou Rawls and Jerry Butler, and he would sing their songs in various bands. When Lloyd moved to Los Angeles, California, he got a chance to work with Muhammad Ali and Tommy the “Hit Man” Hearns while assisting Ross Fields in the Muhammad Ali Boxing Club/Promotions.

Our loved one leaves to celebrate his life and share precious memories: a loving daughter, Dalaina and son-in-law, Eric Horton; three grandsons, Eric Savoy Horton (Demetria), Lloyd-Xavier Alexander Horton and Benjamin Daniel Horton; and one great-granddaughter, Kylee Horton, all of Madison, Alabama; devoted and much loved sister, Gracie Miller of Huntsville, Alabama; devoted and much loved brother, William Earl Jones (Gloria) of Huntsville, Alabama; siblings, Ronnie Jones of New York, New York, Reva Jones, Charlene Jones, Leslie Jones and Marlene Jones, all of Detroit, Michigan; nephew, Jackie Drake Jr. (Linda); two nieces, Deborah Wilkins (Harold) and Karla Miller; and one niece that preceded him in death, Cathy Miller Robinson. He also leaves a host of great nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends to cherish his memories.
