Joseph Steven “Steve” Littrell – Obituary

Joseph Steven “Steve” Littrell, 62, of Lexington went to be with his Lord on August 1st at UAB hospital.  Steve bravely battled pulmonary fibrosis since his diagnosis in 2012.  He passed on the three-year anniversary of his double lung transplant.
Steve served as an elder at Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Lexington.  He loved the Lexington community and his friends, customers, and co-workers at First Metro Bank.  Steve was a graduate of the University of North Alabama and the Graduate School of Banking at LSU.
Steve was preceded in death by his mother, Joy Barnett Littrell, his father, Bobby Littrell, brother, Rick Littrell, and sister-in-law, Robin Shelton McCafferty, all of Lexington.
Steve is survived by his wife of 36 years, Becky McCafferty Littrell, along with his son Tyler (Leslie) of Homewood, his daughter Whitney Tedford (Kelton) of Killen, and his brother Benny (Dorinda) of Lexington.  He is also survived by his father-and-mother-in-law, Luther and Lanee McCafferty, his sister-in-law Sandra McCafferty Mitchell (Danny), his brother-in-law Barry McCafferty, his brother-in-law Benjy McCafferty, his uncle Kenneth “Joe” Littrell, his aunts Brenda Gray and Bonnie Littrell, many nieces, nephews, and their spouses, and his First Metro Bank family.
Visitation will be held on Friday, August 4th from 5:00 to 8:00 pm at Greenhill Funeral Home.  A memorial service will be held at Nebo Cumberland Presbyterian Church on Saturday, August 5th at 11:00 am with Bro. Jimmy Peyton and Bro. Kevin Balch officiating followed by burial at the Nebo cemetery.  Pallbearers will be Drew Mitchell, Adam Mitchell, Klint McCafferty, Luke McCafferty, Blayne McCafferty, and Justin Littrell.  Honorary pallbearers will be Kenneth Littrell, Coach Butch Toner, Kenneth Shelton, Clay Hammond, and C.L. Hubbard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to First Metro Bank’s Swinging for a Cure fund to benefit the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation.
