John Johansen – Obituary

John Johansen, 67, passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He was born February 5, 1950, in Waukegan, IL, to Ernest and Ida Lou Williams Richardson. He grew up in Zion, IL, where he worked at Anchor Glass Containers for 20 years before moving to Mississippi in 1998. He worked at Sara Lee in Verona, where he was known as Tater, and retired in 2012. He married Kathryn Jones on August 12, 1977.

Services will be at 5 p.m. Saturday, August 5, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. James Young, Bro. Ray Manning, and Charles Richardson officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Grove Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife of almost 40 years, Kathy Johansen; three children, Christina Klag, Robert (Rebecca) Johansen, and Brian Johansen; four grandchildren, Lalita Klag, Corey Johansen, John Noah Johansen, and Drake Johansen, all of Mantachie; four brothers, Charles (Rhonda) Richardson of Tupelo, William (Cheryl) Johansen and Roger (Penny) Johansen, both of Kenosha, WI, and Keith (Penny) Johansen of Martin, TN; and one sister, Cheryl (Jeff) Hartleroad of Dyersburg, TN.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Richardson and Ida Johansen; his adopted dad, David Johansen; brother, Gary (Lynette) Johansen; and sister, Sandra Johansen.

Visitation will be from 3 p.m. until service time Saturday at the funeral home in Mantachie.
