Joy Street – Obituary

Joy Street, 84 of Arab, died peacefully, surrounded by her family on Sunday July 30, 2017 at Diversicare in Arab.
Mrs. Street was born December 16, 1932 in Tennessee to James Arthur Gower and Ollie Ethel Bowers Gower. She moved to Arab in 1963 from Memphis, Tennessee and worked on the Redstone Arsenal as an Executive Secretary until her retirement. Mrs. Street enjoyed traveling, playing scrabble, and singing and was a member of the Mtn. Valley Singers and Arab First Baptist Church Choir. She dearly loved spending time her family and grandchildren.
Mrs. Street was an active member of Arab First Baptist Church.
She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law: Ken and Tammy Street; her daughters and sons-in-law: Gail and Gary Royster and Janet and Cletus Morrow; her grandchildren: Philip and Ingrid Royster, Amy Tucker, April Morrow, Chris Street, Justin and Danielle Royster, Andrea and Jarrod Morrow, Ben Street, Katelan and Randy Morris and Ryley Luter; nine great grandchildren; and a sister and brother-in-law: Anita and Bob Foster. She was preceded in death by her parents: James Arthur Gower and Ollie Ethel Bowers Gower; two brothers: Jim Gower and Tom Gower.
Funeral service will be 1:00 p.m. Friday August 4, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Dr. Paul Murphy, officiating and Dr. Randy Stewart providing the music. Burial will be in Union Grove Cemetery in Morgan City with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Gary Royster, Cletus Morrow, Philip Royster, Justin Royster, Chris Street and Ben Street.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Thursday, August 3, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
