James Graham – Obituary

James Graham, 74, of Hartselle, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 26th. He was born in Haleyville on Jan. 8, 1943, to Frederick and Mildred Graham. He lived, worked, married, and raised a family in Decatur for many years, and was a longtime member of Somerville Road Church of Christ. He was a lifelong educator and taught chemistry for over 40 years before retiring from Calhoun Community College. He was a funny, intelligent man and even worked as an honest-to-goodness rocket scientist out on Redstone Arsenal for a portion of his career. He was a devoted Christian, husband, father and grandfather, and was loved by all who knew him.

He is preceded in death by his parents; and his beloved grandmother, Leola Howell Miller, and his aunt, Violet Miller Crowder, both of whom raised him after his mother’s passing.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Mona Jacobs Graham; his daughter, Julie Graham Cothren, and her husband, Adam; his daughter, Leta Graham; his son, Jim Graham, and his wife, Kaitlyn; five grandchildren, Brianna, Noah, Jaxon, Levi and Cooper; and his sister, Ann Graham Swindall.

A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, July 29, 2017, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. A time of visitation will be from noon to 2 p.m. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery.
