KILLEN-As part of its Grand Opening Celebration month in July, Killen Time Adventure Park is hosting the fund raiser, An Ace for CASA.  A portion of the proceeds from every round of golf played July 19-30 will be donated to Shoals CASA. Killen Time Adventure Park is a new 36-hole miniature golf facility located on U.S. Hwy 72 across from Brooks High School in Killen.  For putt-putt fans, the carefree laughs are plentiful.  Unfortunately, carefree fun is not routine for many children who are abused or neglected in our community.

CASA Volunteers are community members who are trained to understand the dynamics of families in crisis and are committed to making sure that a hurting child’s needs do not go unnoticed or unmet.  “Shoals CASA Volunteers are caring and committed men and women from our own community who give so unselfishly of their time and talents to see that abused and neglected children know someone is there and is completely focused on them,” according to Andrea Holt, the Director of the Shoals CASA program.  However, not every child who needs a CASA Volunteer has access to one.

The timing of the CASA benefit at Killen Time could not be better. More children than ever before are being placed in harm’s way and cannot live safely at home.  The number of children in foster care continues to rise as situations of domestic violence and substance abuse increase in every community including the Shoals.  “These children don’t have a parent or guardian who can or will speak up for them, Holt said.  “That’s where CASA steps in and makes a difference.  An Ace for CASA is a perfect way for the community to show its support.”

Killen Time Miniature Golf is open Wednesday-Sunday each week.  Hours are Wednesday and Thursday 3-9pm, Friday from 3-11pm, Saturday from 1-11pm and Sunday from 1-9pm.

So, “putt” your family in the car and go have some fun, all the while you’ll be helping abused and neglected children in the Shoals.
