Angela Lee Owens Summers – Obituary

Angela Lee Owens Summers, 41, transformed from this life to perpetual life at 7 pm Friday, July 21, 2017 at NMMC after a one-week illness. Born in Tupelo on August 12, 1975 to Cheryl Parham Owens and the late Gary L. Owens, Angela grew up in this area, graduated from Mantachie High School in l993. She married Ryan David Summers on July 29, 1995 and he survives. To this union was born two children who were her greatest passion, Zach, age 13 and Lila, age 3. Angela spent her working life in the field of mental health where she meticulously and lovingly cared for hundreds with mental illness and addictions. She always believed hope sprang eternal and she endeared herself to many with her optimistic care, warm personality, and encouragement. She received her formal education with a BS from the University of Mississippi and received her MS from Freed-Hardeman University. She spent 15 years in Corinth where she was employed by Timber Hills Mental Health Association. At her death, she was employed as a counselor/therapist with LifeCore Health Group in Tupelo where she was a beloved and revered associate. An avid reader, she busied herself with her children’s activities as a baseball and band Mom and mentor. She was a communicant of St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo

A Mass will be recited at 10:30 AM Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at St. James Catholic Church in Tupelo with Father Lincoln Dall as officiant. Private burial will follow in the Summers family plot at Belden Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 PM-7PM Monday, July 24, 2017 at the Tupelo Chapel of Holland Funeral Directors with a prayer service at 7 PM. Holland Funeral Directors is honored to be serving their friends.

Survivors include her husband, Ryan and their children, Zach and Lila all of Saltillo. Her mother, Cheryl Owens (John McCay) of Tupelo; a brother, Charles Owens (Emily) of Mantachie. Mother in law, Janice Summers of Tupelo. Brother in law, Mark Summers (Amanda) of Mantachie. 3 nephews, Destin Owens, Lincoln Summers and Evan Summers. Special friends, Hope Vick of Tupelo and Kelly Robertson of Buchanan, TN. a host of other relatives and close friends. She was preceded in death by her dad, Gary Owens and her father in law, David Summers.
