Shirley Ann Grooms Daniels – Obituary

Shirley Ann Grooms Daniels, age 77, passed away on Thursday, July 20, at her residence.

Shirley was born October 30, 1939 in Porter’s Chapel, the daughter of the late Vernon Grooms and Allyne Trice Grooms. She was the wife of John Robert Daniels, and they shared 60 wonderful years together. Shirley was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She worked for General Electric for over 20 years before finally retiring. She had a hard work ethic that she passed on to her children. She loved spending time with her family and imparting her knowledge and experiences to them. It did not matter how she felt, she always had a smile on her face. Shirley also loved her beloved Boston terrier, Baby Girl. A lifelong member of the Porter’s Chapel United Methodist Church, she was a wonderful example of a Christian woman.

Survivors include her husband, John Robert of Columbia; children, Pam Holland, Robert (Edith) Daniels, Bobby (Dana) Daniels and Johnny (Kari) Daniels; grandchildren, Chris Gray, Brian Gray, Payton Holland, Allyne Holland, Preston Holland, Brandi Mahon, Ashley Burke, Dexter Daniels, John Robert Daniels, T.J. Mobbs, Blake Daniels, Candace Andrews, Zackery Daniels, Madison Marlett, Timothy Testerman and Kelsey Dale; 15 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley Adams and Mary Alice Ingram along with nephews, Randall Woodard, Crafton Woodard and Ronnie Staggs.

Funeral services for Shirley will be conducted Saturday at 2:00 P.M. in the chapel of Williams Funeral Home in Mt. Pleasant with Pastor Eddie Watson and Pastor Bobby Gobble officiating. Burial will follow in Polk Memorial Gardens. The family will visit with friends on Friday from 4:00 – 8:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Pallbearers will be her grandsons, John Robert Daniels, Zackery Daniels, Blake Daniels, Preston Holland, and nephews, Randall Woodard and Ronnie Staggs. The remainder of her grandchildren will serve as honorary pallbearers
