William Wayne Bass – Obituary

William Wayne Bass, 80, passed away Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at the North MS Medical Center after a brief illness. He was born October 31, 1936 in Pontotoc County to M.H. and Gladys Bass. Wayne served in the U.S. Army and then went to work for Barber’s Milk Company as a route salesman for over 24 years. He later retired from Gibson Container. Wayne loved working outside in his yard and enjoyed watching wrestling. He attended Oak Hill United Methodist Church. Every day he went to the Wellness Center not only to exercise but to visit with friends. His greatest joy came from his family, spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Services will be 11 AM Thursday at the Oak Hill United Methodist Church with Rev. Truman Thompson and Rev. Donnie Riley officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Hill Church cemetery. Lee Memorial Funeral Home is entrusted with the arrangements.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 53 years, Doris Bass of Saltillo; 2 sons, Curtis Bass (Brenda) and Brad
Bass (Nina) all of Saltillo; 3 grandchildren, Jeremy Bass (Amanda), Brittny Martin (Brandon), and Molly Bass; 4 great-grandchildren, Amelia Bass, Benton Bass, Hayden Martin, and Clark Bass; and a nephew, Marlin Baldwyn.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Betty Baldwyn and her husband, Harold; and a special cousin, Rodney Faulkner.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Bass, Brandon Martin, Neil May, Andy Boren, Jordan Stewart, and Duane Moore. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren and great-grandchildren,, Brittny Martin, Molly Bass, Amelia Bass, Benton Bass, Clark Bass, Hayden Martin; and Wayne’s Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be 5-8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and 10-11 AM Thursday at the church. Memorials may be made to the Oak Hill Church Building Fund. For online guest registry, visit www.leememorialonline.com.
