FLORENCE-The Florence Police released a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect on Wednesday, July 12 in the assault of a man on Jones Street:
“Yesterday morning officers with the Florence Police Department responded to a 911 on Jones Street in East Florence.
Officers arrived to find the victim, Chandler Pigg W/M 22 yoa, and a witness in the roadway. The victim had a puncture wound to his lower back.
EMS was called and the victim was flown to Huntsville Hospital, he was treated and released from the emergency department.
Based on evidence and statements at the scene, the offender, Travis Smith B/M 31 yoa from Florence, was arrested and charged with Assault 2nd.
He is currently in the Lauderdale County Detention Center on a $5,000.00 bond.”
