William Ernest Powell, 72, passed away Monday, July 10, 2017, at the North Mississippi Medical Center. He was born August 10, 1944, to Ernest A. and Mary Anna Sircloumb Powell. He was a mechanic who specialized in transmission work and was a Baptist. He enjoyed raising pheasants, quail, chickens, and peacocks.
Services will be at noon Thursday, July 13, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Bro. James Marks and Bro. Paul Carlson officiating. Burial will be in the Eggville Cemetery.
Survivors include his wife, Jo Ann Thompson Powell of Mantachie; two sons, William Alan Powell (Helen) of Marietta and James Chadwick Powell (Karen) of Dorsey; one daughter, Melissa Jean Smith (Phillip) of Mantachie; one brother, Daniel Powell of Mantachie; one sister, Wanda Heagy of Tupelo; eight grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his first wife of 45 years, Sandra Jean Powell; his parents; one brother, James Powell; and two sisters, Addie Snipes and Syble Sheffield.
Pallbearers will be grandsons. Honorary pallbearers will be great-grandsons.
Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
