Fourth Street Grill and Steakhouse: Restaurant Review

I am finding that these “Mom & Pop” restaurants in the small towns have the best food.    In this article, we give a review of Fourth Street Grill and Steakhouse located in downtown Red Bay, Alabama.

From their website:

Hi! Thanks for stopping by today.  We are thrilled you’ve taken a moment to visit our online home … and we hope to see you face-to-face at Fourth Street.

We’re Lorie and Brent Collum, owners of Fourth Street Grill & Steakhouse in Red Bay, Alabama.  We love living in this small town and sharing all our favorite recipes and stories with local folk and all those fun people who travel through Red Bay to get their motor homes serviced by Allegro.  The opportunity to meet so many people from across the country {and even around the world} is one of the best parts of owning Fourth Street.

We do hope you’ll stop by the restaurant if you’re in our area … let us know you found us online!  Be sure to check out our menu and sign our guest book. We’ve got some great photos of people we’ve met and places we’ve been.  And if you’re local, don’t forget we have curb side to go and catering services!

See you soon!

I have had Chicken Fingers as a take-out from Fourth Street Grill and Steakhouse previously.  They were really good.  Of course, I had their Cheese Sticks as well.  French Fries rounded out the take out meal.    I have to say that I was entirely please with the overall quality of this meal.  Sometimes, take out is just not the same as having a sit down meal in the restaurant.

So with that in mind, I met several friends at the Fourth Street Grill and Steakhouse at about 4pm on a Saturday night.  Upon arrival, there was only one car in the parking lot.  I said “they must not have a Saturday evening dinner crowd.”  I was told “Just wait.”  To which, we entered the restaurant.

First I must say that the restaurant is spacious.  There is plenty of room.   You do not feel crowded.  The tables are spaced just far enough apart.  The restaurant was clean and well lit.  We were promptly seated and our drink order taken.  An appetizer order of Fried Pickles and an order of Fried Mushrooms were ordered.  The drinks and appetizers arrived shortly thereafter.

I did not try the Mushrooms but I am here to tell you the Fried Pickles were awesome.  They were lightly breaded and cooked just right.  I have had other Fried Pickles from restaurants were they were not cooked enough and they had a soggy, greasy taste.    These were perfect.  The Pickles and Mushrooms were quickly consumed.

Our group ordered the following plates:

-Large Chicken Fingers with Fries

-Whole Catfish with Fries

-Tomato Basil Pasta with Grilled Chicken

-BLT with Fries

-Grilled Cheese with Fries

-Catfish Fillets with Fries.

Everyone seemed pleased with their meals.  I had the Chicken Fingers.  They were heavily battered and fried to a crunchy, golden crush.  They were delicious.  Also, the Fries are the big Steak Fries.  I love that type.   Everyone had plenty and no one had room for desert.

If you are in Red Bay, make sure you go by the Fourth Street Grill and Steakhouse.  Even if you are not, make a special trip down there.  I am interested in going back and trying their steaks.  In closing, we are going to give a rating of 4.5 out of 5 Cheese Sticks, the highest rating we have ever given.

P.S.  We were there about a hour.  When we left the parking lot was full of cars.
