Celsa V. Martinez of Trinity passed away Saturday June 24, 2017.
Beloved Wife, Mother, Sister, Grandmother, Great-Grandmother, Great-Great-Grandmother and friend.
Celsa was a resident of Alabama for a short time and has left and indelible mark on everyone she met.
Celsa was born in San Luis, Colorado on her great grandparent’s ranch 104 years ago. She married her first husband Felix Valdez, after becoming a widow she moved to Alamosa with her three small children. In 1952 Celsa remarried and moved to Wyoming. She was a worldwide traveler, loved learning about the different cultures and the beauty of nature. A lady of many talents, a professional tailor, a fine cook and hostess. Mrs. Martinez loved to converse with anyone who was willing, children and adults alike. Celsa loved to sing and dance, and wear hats; believed in and lived her Catholic faith with all her heart. Ever the believer in education Mrs. Martinez, at the ripe old age of 65, received her high school diploma.
Mrs. Martinez is preceded in death by her husband Manuel and her grandchildren, Stephanie Bennett, Raul Fuentes and Wayne Hicks.
Mrs. Martinez is survived by her Children Louise Guiterrez, Josephine Valdez, Loretta Valdez, Jack (Terri) Martinez, Mickie Mallett and Sherrie Martinez, her sister Belinda Valdez.
Grand Children, Manny (Connie) Guiterrez, Debra (Bob) Alwein, Tim Gutierrez, Peter Fuentes, Alondra (Jon) Nelson, Antoinette Gabriel, Audra (Scott) Brown, Mike Martinez and Keshia Merritt.
Great Grand Children Marie Gutierrez, Tiffney Snyder, David, Allie and Bella Bennett, Ivan, Jonathan, and Devin Fuentes, Mikayla and Madison Hobbs, Rosayln, Stephen Melendez, Nathalie(Tim) Taylor, Jonathan, Matt Benoit, Taylor Brown and Mika Martinez.
Great Great grandchildren, Isabella Fuentes, Jayden Ramirez and Devin Fuentes Jr.
Step sons, Joe and Ray Martinez and members of their families.
A memorial Mass will be held on Saturday July 1, 2017 11:00 am, at Resurrection Catholic Chapel in Hillsboro, Alabama, with Father John O’Donnel. A small reception to follow at her home. Mrs. Martinez will later be buried in her home state of Wyoming. All funeral arrangement are being provided by Elliott Funeral Home in Moulton/Decatur, Alabama.
