David Herchel Taylor 88, of Somerville passed away Monday, June 26, 2017 at his residence. Mr. Taylor was born in Russellville, Alabama July 21, 1928 to David Allen Taylor and Esther Rickerd Taylor. He was preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Stella and Lurlie, brothers, Delma, Odie, and Lawrence. Mr. Taylor was a member of United Christian Church of God of Somerville, he was a retired Tool and Die maker, he was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide fan and loved Bluegrass music. He is survived by his two sons Reverend David Taylor and Jerry Lee Taylor, daughters, Donna Lynn Taylor Moore, and Joyce Taylor Roof; one brother, Bob Taylor and two sisters, Jewl Taylor Nagle and Fronia Taylor Horton; 20 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. Visitation will be Wednesday June 28, 2017 from 6:00pm until 8:00pm at Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home. Funeral will be Thursday at 3:00pm at United Christian Church of God in Somerville with Reverend David Taylor officiating. The body will lie in state one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Somerville Cemetery. Hartselle Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family.
