John Douglas Brown, of Huntsville, went to be with the Lord June 24, 2017. He was 92. Doug was born in Murfreesboro, TN to John Thomas Brown and Blanche Coleen Horne Brown of Lascassas, TN. He was preceded in death by his wife Doris Marie Johnston Brown.

Doug was retired from NASA, a graduate of MTSU, and a World War II veteran who served in the Army in New Guinea, Australia, and the Philippines. A long-time member of Holmes Street United Methodist Church, he was a good friend and neighbor, loving father, and a great Papaw. He enjoyed his workshop, gospel music, dinner and trips with friends, and as a former pilot, anything to do with airplanes.

He leaves behind a daughter, Susan Robinson (Bill), of Gurley; son Mike Brown (Nancy), of Harvest; grandson Brian Robinson (Karen), of Grant; two great-granddaughters, Brianna and Meagan Robinson, of Grant; and special friend Wilma Cagle.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. at Berryhill Funeral Home followed by service at 2:00. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Elevator and Building Fund at Holmes Street United Methodist Church.

Special thanks to First Light of Huntsville and their employees for their care and concern, and to Mr. Brown’s friends and neighbors for their loving support.
