Bernard Shields Blake Jr. – Obituary

Bernard Shields Blake Jr., 93, of Decatur, passed away on June 21, 2017. Bernard was born on April 5, 1924 in Birmingham, Alabama.

He attended college at Auburn University where he met his beautiful bride, Jane Blake. Bernard was a World War II army veteran. He served in France and Germany, and was awarded a Bronze Star Metal. Bernard later retired as a space sciences lab engineer from NASA.

He will be missed by all who knew him. Bernard’s memories will be cherished by his loving wife of 68 years, Jane Blake; two sons, Steve Blake (Claudia) and Paul Blake; daughter, Patty Doss (Bo); grandchildren, Tyler Blake, Adam Blake (Laura), and Brandon Hill; great-grandson, Charlie Bernie Blake; and brother Jack Blake.

Visitation will be Monday, June 26, 2017, from 9:30 a.m. until 10:30 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. Funeral will begin at 10:30 a.m. in the chapel with burial in Roselawn Cemetery.
