Suspect Arrested For Drug Trafficking In Athens

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect on Wednesday, June 21.  The suspect was charged with drug trafficking and possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia:

“Wednesday afternoon shortly after 5:00 on June 21 Officer Josh Cagle stopped a black Lexus on 5th Avenue near Sanders Street for a traffic violation.

He identified the driver as Castillo Dontae Carthen. While talking with Carthen Cagle located a Crown Royal bag on Carthen. In the bag were three bags containing approximately 50 grams of Chrystal Methamphetamine.

Inside the vehicle Cagle located a set of digital scales and three Acetaminophen Hydrocodone pills.

Carthen was charged with drug trafficking, unlawful possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphilia.

Carthen was booked at the police department and transferred to the county jail. “
