Herman Earl Gilley – Obituary

Herman Earl Gilley, age 87 passed away Friday, June 16, 2017 at a family members home in Huntsville, AL. A resident of Guntersville, he was born November 4, 1929 to the late Hobart McKinley Gilley Sr. and the late Julia Lee Jarmon Gilley. Earl served in the Army and retired from Redstone Arsenal where he served in the Civil Service, he was a Mason for over 50 years; he enjoyed farming and antique tractors, a member of the Sand Mountain Saddle Club and loved working with Tennessee Racking Horses. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Hobart M. Gilley Sr and Julia Jarmon Gilley and three brothers, Hobart M. Gilley Jr, George Gilley and Jim Gilley. He is survived by his beloved wife of 63 years, Dorothy Morrow Gilley, three sons, David Gilley (Debra), John Gilley, Jerry W. Gilley (Jennifer Nye) a daughter, Cindy Gilley Moses (Horace), sister, Mary Lee Lang. Survivors also include five grandchildren, Zachary Moses, Tyler Moses, David Gilley Jr, Kasey Wilson, Troy Cole Perry and one great grandchild, Grayson Wilson. The family will receive friends for visitation Tuesday, June 20th beginning at 12:00 noon until 2:00 at Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville. A funeral service will be at 2:00 PM in the Chapel of Carr Funeral Home and burial will be at Marshall Memory Gardens Cemetery on Hwy. 205, Albertville. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Carr Funeral Home in Guntersville.
