Dorthea J. Bond, of Sheffield, passed away on Saturday, June 17th, 2017 at the age of 72. Her visitation will be Tuesday, June 20th, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will be Wednesday, June 21st, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church of Tuscumbia with Dr. Rudy Guess officiating. She will lie-in-state at the church on Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. Her burial will follow in Glendale Cemetery.
Dorthea was a native of Sheffield and a retired Cosmetologist. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Tuscumbia. She was preceded in death by her parents, Curtis and Alleyne Smith.
Dorthea’s survivors include her loving husband, Stanley Bond; sons, Greg Bond (Michelle), Grant Bond (Bridget), and Griffin Bond (Heather); brother, Donnie Smith (Yolanda); seven grandchildren, Zachary Bond (Meri Beth), Britney Springer (Isaac), Cody Bond (Ashton), Ben Bond, Sierra Bond, Shelby Craig (Jacob), and Parker Bond; eight great-grandchildren, Maci Speegle, Levi Springer, Sadie and Gracie Bond, Hunter and Hadlee Bond, and Harper and Baylor Craig; niece, Diona Fowler (Dewayne); nephew, Curt Smith; great nieces, Destiny and Desiree Fowler; and great nephews, Wyatt and Walker Smith.
Pallbearers will be Zachary Bond, Cody Bond, Ben Bond, Parker Bond, Isaac Springer, and Jacob Craig.
The family expresses special thanks to the staffs at Hospice of North Alabama and Mitchell Hollingsworth Rehab and especially to Dorthea’s friend, Mary Alice Pace.
