Donald James Madden – Obituary

Donald James Madden passed away on June 10, 2017, at the age of 87 after battling Alzheimer’s for several years.

Donald was born to Carlisle and Leona Madden in Greenville, Pennsylvania. He graduated from Indiana Institute of Technology. He was a registered professional engineer and was employed as a mechanical engineer in New York, Washington, Illinois, Alabama and Georgia. Don was a veteran of the Korean War and loved his country, church and family. Don, nicknamed “Trouble”, was an avid sailor and enjoyed woodworking.

Don was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Robert.

Survivors include his wife, Joan “Freckles”, and his children, Linda Colvard (David), Gail Morris (Darren) and Michael Madden (Ellen), as well as his grandchildren, James Colvard (Ginny), Jennifer Colvard-Davis (Lee), Cara Pope (Caleb), Evan Colvard (Amber), Dustin Colvard, Tracey Morris, Kyle Morris, Carl Madden, Paige Madden and Nick Ivy. Great- grandchildren are Elizabeth Pope, Amelia Pope and Virginia Claire Colvard.

A memorial service will be held today, June 11th, at 3 p.m. at First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Florence. The service will be presided by Reverend Dwayne McDuff.
