Donald Dean Bryan – Obituary

Dr.Donald Dean Bryan, age 82, passed away on the evening of June 3, 2017. He leaves his wife of 39 years, Dianna Looney Bryan, and four children, Michael D. Bryan of Colunbia, TN, Kimberly Bryan Meek of Smyra, TN, Matthew D. Bryan of Choudrant, LA, and Hannah Bryan O’Neal of Paint Rock, AL. He has seven grandchildren and one great grandchild. He was preceded in death by his parents Myra Bledsoe and B.A. “Boots” Bryan and by his sister Sherry Bryan Reynolds.

He was born on July 5, 1934, on the Bryan Family Farm in Bryson, TN, on what was described as an extremely hot summer day. He attended Ardmore Elementery and was a member of First Baptist Church. He was a graduate of Columbia Military Academy (1952) where he served as class president for two years. He was a graduate of Auburn University (1958). There he was awarded the Upjohn Award for Proficiency in Small Animal Medicine on February 12, 1958. He served in the United States Air Force in Greenville, MS, Where hr served as the base veterinarian and earned the rank of Captain. He practiced veterinary medicine for over 40 years, which includes, Columbia, TN, Ardmore, TN, Toney, AL and Hazel Green, AL.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, June 9, 2017, from 10 A.M. until 12 noon, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home in Ardmore, Alabama.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be sent to your local Humane Society.
