Visitation for William Harold Bailey Sr., age 77, of Decatur, will be Sunday, June 4, 2017, 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel. The family will have a Celebration of Life service at Grant Street Church of Christ Monday, June 5, 2017 at 6:00 p.m. with Alan Watkins Officiating.
Mr. Bailey, who died Friday, June 2, 2017, at Decatur Morgan Hospital, was born May 12, 1940 in Cullman County Alabama, to William K. Bailey and Gladys Tankersley Bailey.
Mr. Bailey was a graduate of Auburn University. He worked with Auburn Extension service, Helena Chemical, was a founding partner of Dixie Agriculture Supply and retired with United Agriculture products as Seed Manager for the Southeast. He farmed with his son Bill in Greenbrier, AL. He was an elder at Grant Street Church of Christ.
He is survived by his wife Adonis L. Bailey, son William “Bill” H. Bailey Jr. of Greenbrier, AL, two daughters, Lori Bailey Shrode (Tim) of Madison, AL and Andrea Bailey Abernathy (Ken) of Wetumka, AL, 5 grandchildren, William “Tex” Bailey, Riley Shrode, Tyler Abernathy, Madeline Shrode and Emma Grace Bailey, one sister Betty Balch of Cullman, AL and mother-in-law Nell Long of Owens Cross Roads.
Pallbearers will be William Bailey, Tyler Abernathy, Ken Abernathy, Al Cheatham, Riley Shrode, Tim Shrode, Charles Wilder and Herlan Callan.
Honorary Pallbearers will be Shannon Long, Augustine Guiterrez, Pat Waldrop, Jackie Tidwell, Sherman Long, Darrell Johnson, Richard Myers and the Elders of Grant Street Church of Christ.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to HopeQuest Resources International, 320 Cheyenne Drive, West Monroe, Louisiana 71291 and Grant Street Church of Christ Building Fund.
