Ruby Jane Childers age 88, of Guntersville, Al. passed away peacefully on May 26, 2017 with her family by her side. She was born and raised in Carbon Hill, Al. Walker County. She married and later moved with her family to Indiana. There she worked until retirement, and then moved back south to Guntersville, Ala.
She was a member of the American Legion Post 8, since 1991. She enjoyed the summer outdoors, gardening, canning, making floral arrangements and always helping and giving to her family, and friends.
Ms. Childers is survived by her daughters; Diane Woodall of Albertville, Al, and Mary Shepherd (Claud) of Valparaiso, In. Grandchildren; David Smith, Lisa Smith, Shawn Rutherford, Scott Rutherford, Jamie Kappos, Tereasa Kappos, Jessica Moree (Trevor), Heather Stempack, Jeremy Woodall, Danny Ray Samuels (Amanda), Matthew Shepherd (Dayna), Great Grandchildren, and Great Great Grandchildren. Special thanks to Jessica Huddleston.
Ms. Childers was preceded in death by her daughters; Charlene Kappos, and Dorothy Rutherford, Sons; Danny Samuels, and J.C. Samuels, Grandsons; Patrick Shepherd and Nathan Samuels.
Family will have a visitation Thursday June 1, 2017 at Carr Funeral Home from 9am til 12pm. With a funeral service to follow at 12pm in the Carr Funeral Home Chapel.
Burial will follow in the Tidwell Chapel Cemetery in Carbon Hill, Alabama in Walker County.
