Margie C. Akins age 90 of Sumiton, passed away Friday May 26, 2017 at Ridgeview Health Care. She was a homemaker and attended Dora Church of God.
Funeral services will be Tuesday May 30, 2017 at 11:00 am in the New Horizon Memorial Chapel. Rev. Don Stanton will officiate. Burial will follow in New Horizon Memorial Gardens. Visitation is Tuesday from 9:30-11 am at the funeral home.
She was preceded in death by her husband Phillip Akins; parents, Preme and Geneva Vintson; grandchildren, Jamie Oliver Akins and Lawanda and Connie Griffis; sisters, Mavis Lee, Donnie Mae Wilkerson and Eula B. Clifton; brother, Claudie Lee; and son in law, Junior Griffis.
Survivors include her children, James Phillip Akins (Elaine), Larry E. Akins, Jerry A. Akins, Wanda Griffis and Bruce C. Akins; six grandchildren; several great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; several other relatives and many friends.
