FLORENCE-The Florence Police Department released a statement concerning the arrest of a suspect on Wednesday, May 24 for assault and theft:
“Micah Brown was arrested last night after assaulting a loss prevention officer with Belk department store.
Officers responded to a shoplifting call a few minutes after 5pm last night. Upon arrival officers found Micah Brown in a physical altercation with prevention officers at Belk.
Brown was detained and found to be in possession stolen items from within the store. The total theft was approximately $50.00. The loss prevention officer was treated for their injuries sustained during the fight and Brown was arrested.
After speaking with detectives, Brown was charged with Robbery 3rd for using force against the employee during the theft.
The items stolen were returned to Belk and Brown was booked into the Lauderdale County Detention Center.
He is currently being held on bond totaling $2,500.00.”
