Samuel Paul Boehms ended his life’s journey on May 23, 2017 at Morning Pointe Assisted Living, Columbia, TN. Paul, 85, a native of the Leatherwood Community in Hickman County was born on July 24, 1931. His parents were the late Kinzer N Boehms and Nora Blanche Woody Boehms. At the age of 5, his mother passed away from typhoid fever on August 24, 1936.

On December 15, 1951, he was married for 60 years to his high school sweetheart Mary Ruth Webb before her passing on May 22, 2012. The couple spent their early years together managing a dairy farm, singing in gospel quartets and attending Craft Memorial Methodist Church while raising their four surviving children: Paulette Christensen, Suzanne (Jimmy) Goolsby, Mike (Debbie Norman) Boehms, Sammy (Karen Hooten) Boehms all of Columbia, TN.

Later, as an active member of Riverside United Methodist Church, he served in several positions at the church especially enjoying the choir and other activities. Paul worked with Boy Scouts of America and 4-H Club.

A life-long farmer, he raised Black Angus beef cattle. From 1971 to 1986, Paul worked in the Farm Credit System serving as manager of the Production Credit Association and as President of the Federal Land Bank serving the agricultural community in and around Maury County. He was a Director of Maury County Farm Bureau and actively supported the farm bureau’s activities. After his retirement in 1986, he joined Boehms Realty as an agent and was a respected and much sought after Land Appraiser for Maury and surrounding counties.

Paul never lost his love of gospel music, tending to his cattle, and a garden that would yield enough vegetables for half the county.

He was very proud of and enjoyed his family, in addition to his children, he is survived by his eight grandchildren Jon Paul (David Rosales) Christensen, Jared (Erin Finn) Christensen, Jana Christensen, Tiffany Sensat LeMay (Chris), Sidney (Charlotte Smith) Boehms, Adam (Lindsey Wallace) Goolsby, Kelsie Boehms (fiancé Jason Gadbois), Hannah Boaz, Harley Boehms, Grace Boehms, Hadley Boehms, Hayden Boehms, and great-grandchildren Autumn and Addison Sensat and Alyssa LeMay, Gentry and Gage Christensen, Piper Boehms, Harper Goolsby, Megan Boaz Fowler. Also surviving is his sister, Etta Mai Skelley (97) of Virginia Beach, VA and brother, Doug Boehms (81) of Columbia.

Preceding Paul in death was his stepmother Lena Brown Webb Boehms and brothers – Lewis, Bob, Leslie, and Dwight.

A celebration of a life well-lived will be conducted at the cemetery on Monday, May 29 at 10:30 a.m. at Little Lot United Methodist Cemetery, 6784 Little Lot Cemetery Road, Lyles, TN 37098 by Rev. Jim Norton officiating. Music will be provided by Georgett Smith. Family will visit with friends after the services at Little Lot United Methodist Church.

Active pallbearers will be J P Christensen, Jared Christensen, Adam Goolsby, Sidney Boehms, Paul Woody Boehms and Jerry Boehms. Honorary Pallbearers will be the Staff at Morning Pointe Assisted Living.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers memorials to Little Lot United Methodist Church or Little Lot Cemetery c/o of Jimmy Copley, 7392 Highway 230, Lyles, TN 37098 and Riverside United Methodist Church, 313 6th Avenue, P O Box 392, Columbia TN 38401- 0392.

The family also would like to express their sincere gratitude for the exceptional care given during Paul’s residence at Morning Pointe Assisted Living in Columbia, to the staff at NHC Hillview, Home Caregivers Tammy Adamson, Elizabeth Richardson, and Michelle Clark and staff at Caris Healthcare.

Heritage Funeral Home in Columbia, TN is assisting the family with arrangements.
