Wilma Turner Collier – Obituary

Wilma Turner Collier, 93 of Alabaster, formerly of Double Springs, entered into rest on May 14, 2017 in Alabaster, Alabama.

Mrs. Collier was born on April 22, 1924 in Haleyville. She was a member of Southside Baptist Church for 41 years, where she served as Sunday School teacher and was a member of the choir. She attended Winston County High School and went on to Alverson Draughon Business College for two years. Mrs. Collier retired from Collateral Investment Company. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Her hobbies included gardening, reading her Bible and selling her treasures at Tannehill Trade Day. She was lovingly given the name “Wib” by her brothers and sisters.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, May 18, 2017 from 12pm-1pm at Nichols Funeral Home in Double Springs. A graveside service will be held at 2pm at Pleasant Hill No. 2 Cemetery. Brother Bill Frank Wilson will officiate.

Wilma is survived by her daughter, Glanna Collier Clary and her husband Ron; daughter-in-law, Brenda Collier; brother, Dutt Turner; sister, Bonnie Wilson and her husband Bill Frank; she was “Granny” to T.J. Collier and his wife Leslie, Jennifer Long and her husband Cody, and James Clary; and 7 great grandchildren: Reese and Stone Collier; Peyton, Ethan and Emileigh Long; Emrey and Rylie Clary.

She was preceded in death by her husband, V.D. Collier; parents, Soloman and Madgie Turner; son, Tony Colllier; brothers, Bill (Othel) Turner, Ellis (Odell) Turner; sister, Pauline (David) Overton; and sister-in-law, Christine Turner.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to caregivers, Joyce Terry, Mary Vanderleest, Felicia Burroughs, Faye Kendal, Barbara Paschel and family; and the staff of New Beacon Southern Care Hospice Services.
