Tommy Blackburn – Obituary

Tommy Blackburn, 62, of Rogersville passed away Monday, May 15th, 2017 at ECM Hospital.
He was a graduate of Lauderdale County High School, a veteran of the United States Navy, a member of First Baptist Church of Rogersville, the American Legion Post #11 and the Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department for over 20 years.
Tommy was known to all for his dedication to his community. He was one of the very first EMT’S in Rogersville. He helped organize the Rogersville Emergency Ambulance and was one of the first certified firefighters in the state of Alabama.
Visitation will be Wednesday, May 17th, 2017 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will be Thursday at 11 a.m. in the chapel with Stanley Hargett and Morris Lentz officiating. Burial will follow in Civitan Cemetery with military honors. Pallbearers will be Jacob Jones, Matthew Woods, Glenn Gautney, Anthony Richardson, Jeremy Coffman, Jesse Curtis and Rogersville Volunteer Fire Department will be honorary pallbearers.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, George & Minnie Blackburn. He is survived by his children, Brian Blackburn and Kylie (William) Jones; grandchildren, Miranda & Jacob Jones; sister, Ann (David) Woods; nephew, Matthew Woods; best friends, Glenn Gautney and Billy Mason.
