Larry Dale McTune, 73, passed away Monday, May 15, 2017, at Countrywood Manor-Lakeview Place Assisted Living where he had lived after his health declined. Larry was born October 9, 1943, in Tupelo to Louie Paul McTune and Eva Lurine Sheffield McTune. He married Betty Jean Bryant on August 3, 1963. He lived most of his married life in the Evergreen community and enjoyed fishing, growing vegetables, and visiting with family and friends. He loved sports, especially basketball and the MSU Bulldogs. Larry was an active member of Evergreen Baptist Church where he was a deacon, Sunday School Director, and treasurer for many years. He was also the treasurer of the Itawamba Baptist Association and a Gideon for many years. Larry was educated at Dorsey Elementary, Mooreville High, ICC (IJC), and Mississippi State University. He worked at Pennsylvania Tire and Rubber Co., Marietta Manufacturing, Ferguson Enterprises, and owned McTune Farm Supply in Fulton until retiring in June 2010.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 18, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Fulton with Bro. Mike Yielding officiating. Burial will be in the Dorsey Memorial Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Betty, of almost 54 years; one son, Mark McTune (Marsha) of Helena, AL; one daughter, Paula M. Jones (Wesley) of Tupelo; and four grandsons, Ryan McTune, Jason McTune, Lincoln Jones, and Ryder Jones.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Pallbearers will be Dale Cox, Phillip White, Randy Snipes, Burney Petty, Cleave Hall, Will Snipes, and Matt Snipes.

Honorary pallbearers will be his grandsons Ryan, Jason, Lincoln, and Ryder.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. until service time Thursday at the funeral home.
