Adraine was born on September 19, 1957 in Florence, Alabama, the next to youngest child of the eleven born to Annie Bertha Vaughn. Adraine, affectionately called “Bean,” and her baby sister Tammy were the last two to leave the nest. The two youngest brothers, Ronnie and James Louis, often depended on Adraine to braid their hair just right so their “fros” stood out.

Adraine was a talented seamstress who, at an early age, presented a fashion show featuring her own designs. Soon after, she spread her wings and traveled to California where her sister Linda resided. She returned home and worked for her sister Odessa at two of the Bailey’s record stores, and at WZZA Radio.

After returning to Alabama, she became a mother, often referring to her son DeAundre as “Bay” and later “Dee.” She was a member of the Trinity M.B. Church, Florence; and a former member of Mt. Moriah P.B. Church, Florence, and First Baptist Church, Sheffield, where she was known for singing praises to the Lord.

Adraine was dedicated to the clients at Scope 310, and was a long time, and award-winning, employee of the Alabama Department of Public Safety, where she had recently received yet another special appreciation award.

She was a good and loving friend to many whose laughter brought a smile to the faces of others. Adraine will be missed.
