Kenneth “Zeke” Nathan Mathis, 67, of Iuka, MS, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at Magnolia Regional Health Center in Corinth, MS. Mr. Mathis was a member of Fifth Street Baptist Church where he was a deacon and a Sunday school teacher. He retired from the Army National Guard with the rank of Captain and he also retired from OfficePro in Corinth. He enjoyed camping and going to Smokies, but his favorite past time was sitting on his front porch with his beloved wife. Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m., Friday, May 12, at Fifth Street Baptist Church in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Tony Curtis and Bro. Joey Postlewaite. Interment will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Pallbearers include Cory Mathis, Joey Holt, Todd Williams, Phillip South, Adam Humphries, and Zack Dunn. Honorary pallbearers include Titus Curtis, Cody Williams, and the men of Fifth Street Baptist Church. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m, Thursday, May 11, 2017, at Fifth Street Baptist Church. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife, Diane Mathis; his daughters, Sherry Williams (Tony), Jennifer Merrill (Doug), and Katie Postlewaite (Joey); his son, Chris Mathis (Julie); his brother, Chuck Mathis (Donna); and his grandchildren, Kayley Williams, Cody Williams, Lauren Mathis, Hannah Mathis, Jake Mathis, William Merrill, and Spencer Merril. He was preceded in death by his parents, William “Bill” and Bernice Nell Mathis and his brother, Wayne Mathis. Memorials may be made to the general fund at Fifth Street Baptist Church.
