Bonnie Lee Leathers – Obituary

Bonnie Lee Leathers, 81, died Tuesday, May 9, 2017, at his home. He was born July 20, 1935, to Carcle and Amy Hammett Leathers. He was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army. He was a jack of all trades, including, but not limited to, electrician, mechanic, carpenter, air-conditioning specialist, and just an all-around good trader. He enjoyed race car driving, camping, and showing horses.

Services will be at 2 p. m. Friday at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home Chapel in Mantachie with Ricky Lesley, Rodney Lindsey, and Guyton Hinds officiating. Burial will be in the Kirkville Cemetery.

Survivors include his wife, Helen Franks Leathers; two sons, Michael Dill (Tonuia) and Barry White (Lisa); one daughter, Rachel Leathers (Jimmy), all of Mantachie; two brothers, Dallas Leathers (Dean) of Shannon and Boyce Leathers (Genavea) of Pascagoula; six grandchildren, Nathan Leathers, Kayla Howery, Jody Dill, Summer Dill, Dakota White, and Carolyna White; four great grandchildren, Sara Grace Leathers, Micah Howery, Oliver Leathers, and Leanna Howery.

He was preceded in death by one sister, Lois Pettigo; and his parents.

Pallbearers will be Joel Robinson, John Marvin Smith, Tommy Thompson, Joe Forthman, Blake Buchanan, and Bobby Howery.

Honorary pallbearers will be John Marvin Pearce, Freddie Durham, and Camellia Hospice.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p. m. Thursday and from 10 a. m. until service time Friday at McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Mantachie.
