Paul Gibson, 90 of Union Grove, died Saturday May 6, 2017 at his residence.
Mr. Gibson was born April 13, 1927 in Marshall County to Roy Eugene Gibson and Estelle Stidger Gibson. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He taught at Marshall Technical School for 25 years and retired in 1992. He and the former Georgia Mae Lewis were married for 72 years. Mr. Gibson was an active member of his church and in the past served as Assistant Sunday School Superintendent, taught Sunday School and was an Honorary Deacon. He enjoyed Fishing and Hunting. The Atlanta Braves, Atlanta Hawks and Alabama Football were his favorite teams to watch. He loved watching westerns and The Price is Right. He was a current Board Member of the Union Grove Water Board.
He was a member of The First Baptist Church of Union Grove.
He is survived by his wife Georgia Lewis Gibson; his children and in-laws: Tommy and Melanie Gibson and Paula and Carlton Parker; grandchildren: Jimmy and Christy, Alan and Shivonne, Amanda and Clayton, Paul and Tonia; great grandchildren: Emalee, Jake, Katie, Madison, Jaeden, Nick and Braxton and one brother: Ray Gibson; and a host of nieces, nephews, Sunday school class and his Church Family. He was preceded in death by his parents: Roy and Estelle Gibson and his sister and brother-in-law: Barbara and Oliver Conley.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Monday May 8, 2017 at First Baptist Church Union Grove with Bothers: Greg Narrell and Mike Whitt, officiating. Burial will be in the adjoining cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Bob Gibson, Robert Conley, Tim Brown, Scott Underwood, Pete Harden and Tyler Martin. Honorary Pallbearers: Doug Gibson, David Gibson, Steve Conley and Mike Harden.
Visitation will be 6:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday May 7, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to First Baptist Union Grove Building Fund and Shepherd’s Cove Hospice.
