James Wendell Thornton, Sr. – Obituary

James Wendell Thornton, Sr., 74, of Killen passed away Friday, April 28th, 2017 at Glenwood Nursing and Rehabilitation. He was of Baptist faith, an owner/operator and worked as a mechanic, enjoyed traveling and eating out with family and friends.
Wendell was a beloved husband, father, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.
Visitation will be Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017 from 10 – 11 a.m. at Rogersville Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow immediately with Trent Thornton delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Rogersville Funeral Home Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Mickey Thornton, Stanley Birdwell, Quinton Michael, Chase Underwood, Chris Thornton and Trent Thornton.
Wendell was preceded in death by his parents, James & Lillie Thornton; brothers, Godoy and Nathan Thornton. He is survived by his wife, Jean Thornton of Killen; children, James Thornton, Jr. of Florence and Susan Thornton of Killen; sister, Shirley Favors; brothers, Roger and Donnie Thornton; god daughter, Ashlyn Claire Underwood; aunts, Nadean Thornton and Wiladean Myers; sister-in-law, Sharon Thornton; numerous nieces, nephews and his much loved pet, Buddy.
