Glenn Ray McMurtrey passed from this life at his home on Wednesday, April 26, 2017, at the age of 79 years, 1 month, 6 days. He was born in Killen, AL, and lived in the St. Florian Community for 54 years.
Glenn was a member of Mt. Zion Church of Christ, but attended Kilburn Church on Wednesday and Sunday nights.  Glenn grew up as a county boy and found a career in insurance sales.  He never forgot his roots and enjoyed tending to his cattle and large garden as long as his health would allow.
Glenn was a wonderful father, always thinking of his family and those sick and in need.

 Survivors include:
Wife of 59 ½ years: Frances Kretzer McMurtrey
Sons:   Greg McMurtrey (special friend- Ruth Logan)
Reggie McMurtrey (Elizabeth)
Grandson:    Bradley McMurtrey

Preceded in death by:
Parents:  Lonzie Dee McMurtrey and Clara Lee McMurtrey

Visitation will be Friday, April 28, from 5:00-8:00pm at Greenhill Funeral Home.  The funeral service will be Saturday, April 29, at 11:00am in the funeral home chapel with Bro. Tim Grigsby, Bro. Sonny Owens & Bro. Robert Huffaker officiating.  Burial will follow in Lone Cedar Church of Christ cemetery.

Pallbearers will be:  Bradley McMurtrey, Wayne Clemmons, Cliff Thompson, Landon Daniel, Jacob Hurst & Junior Hannah.

Honorary pallbearers:  Charles Cabler, Charlie James, J.W. Michael, Ottis Cox & Ellis Cabler.

The family wishes to extend sincere gratitude to Dr. Robert Mann and Hospice of Tennessee Valley.

Greenhill Funeral Home is in charge of all arrangements.
