Velma Ruth Kimbrough – Obituary

Velma Ruth Kimbrough, age 90, of Tuscumbia, Alabama passed away on Monday, April 24, 2017 at Helen Keller Hospital.

Visitation will be today, April 26, 2017, 6-9 p.m. at Akins Funeral Home Russellville, Alabama. Funeral service will be Thursday, April 27, 2017 at 2 p.m. in the chapel of Akins Funeral Home with Brother James McCullar, Brother Eddie Wix, and Brother Chris Green officiating. Burial will be in Crooked Oak Cemetery.

Velma Ruth was a member of Crooked Oak Baptist Church and she served as a charter member of Crooked Oak Cemetery Committee. Velma was the store owner of Kimbrough Grocery at Crooked Oak for 56 years.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Archie and Lucy Dill Lindsey; her husband, Henry Nelson Kimbrough; daughter, Estell Vandiver; and brothers, Arnold Lindsey and Noland Lindsey.

Velma Ruth is survived by her sons, Aubrey Kimbrough (Martha) and James Kimbrough (Jim); her daughter, Charlene Terry; grandchildren, Linda Terry, Jana Temple, Joshua Kimbrough, Jace Kimbrough, Kimberly Vandiver, and Jade Bragwell; ten great- grandchildren; and a host of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Tyler Newton, Allen Newton, Fred Reeves, James W. Lindsey, James H. Lindsey, and Kenneth Lindsey.

Honorary pallbearers will be Dwight Love and Robert Newton.

Akins Funeral Home will be assisting the family.
