Sue Plunk Beck – Obituary

Sue Plunk Beck was born January 1, 1949 and raised in Bethel Springs, TN. She was called home April 24, 2017 at the age of 68 years after a long battle with lung cancer. She is the daughter of the late Joe and Maggie Plunk and is survived by her husband James Beck, whom she married on September 24, 1982.

Sue was a member of Fellowship Baptist Church in Selmer. She was a previous employee of Brown Shoe Factory, a graduate of West Tennessee Business College, and retired from Southwest Human Resource Agency. She enjoyed interior decorating and was a fashionable person. She was a wonderful cook among which was her great chicken & dressing, sausage balls, and chocolate oatmeal cookies.

Sue was a devoted mother and is survived by all her children; Ken Barton and wife Linda; Kim Sappington and husband Jeff; and Chad Barton and wife Sandee. She is also survived by their father, Ernest Barton.

Sue is survived by a host of grandchildren who were her pride and joy; Sarah Rowland and Samantha Wiggins and husband Zach; Maggie, Joey, Kendall and Zack Barton; Kaylee and Brylee Barton; and Blake Sappington and Cori Masters.

It was her dream to be a great-grandmother and she is survived by great-grandchildren William Hall and Jon Silas Wiggins due to be born September 2017.

Sue is survived by one sibling, Bill Plunk and wife Joanne. She is preceded in death by her siblings Mary Jo Cartwright, Nellie Francis Plunk, Edward Plunk, Austin Plunk, and Larry Plunk. She is also preceded in death by one son-in-law, Freddy Rowland, and two beloved nieces Margie McCormick and Marsha Pearson.

Funeral services will be held on Friday, April 28 at Shackelford Funeral Directors in Selmer at 12:00 PM. Visitation will precede the services at 10:00 AM. Graveside services will be at Lake Hill Memorial Gardens in Bethel Springs.

Zachary Wiggins will officiate assisted by Bro. Don Singleton of Grace Baptist Church. Serving as Pallbearers will be Ricky Plunk, Keith Plunk, Chris Plunk, Joey Barton, Zack Barton, and Blake Sappington, along with one Honorary Pallbearer Dewayne Plunk.
