Funeral services for Mrs. Gertrude Wallace Jones, age 97, will be held at 2:00 PM Monday, April 24 in the chapel of Pafford Funeral Home with Rev. Bobby Beecham and Rev. Donald Jones officiating. Interment will follow at Barren Springs Cemetery in the Reagan Community.
Mrs. Jones, the daughter of the late Thomas and Lucy Davis Wallace, died early Saturday morning, April 22, 2017 in Lexington. She was a lifelong resident of Henderson County, member of Union Hill Baptist Church and a homemaker. Mrs. Gertrude had many loves and they included gardening, cooking and enjoying all of her families’ activities.
She is survived by her three children: Evelyn Erwin of Pulaski, Melissa (Steve) Lindsey of Lexington and Bobby J. (Joy) Jones of Sardis; 17 grandchildren, 24 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren. Mrs. Jones was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Clodie Lee Jones. Three sons: Carl Lee, Danny Paul Randy Clay Jones and a grandson, Jody Lee Jones.
Mrs. Jones love for Children carried over into the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital which was the charity of her choice. The family has asked that donations be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-9959.
