Emogene Whitehead Hyatt – Obituary

A Celebration of Life will be Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 11 a.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home with Reverend Pat Driskell officiating. A time of visitation will be one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Decatur City Cemetery, next to her husband of 56 years.

Emogene Whitehead Hyatt of Decatur passed away April 19, 2017 at the age of 93. Mrs. Hyatt was preceded in death by her husband, Earl “Red” Hyatt and also nine of her brothers and sisters. She was born Aug. 22, 1923 in Lauderdale County to Jesse Thurston Whitehead Sr. and Clara Odell Dean Whitehead. Emogene was a devoted wife and mother. She was born in Rogersville and one of ten siblings. She was a graduate of Lauderdale County High School and was a member of First United Methodist Church of Decatur.

Survivors include two daughters, Sandy H. Bradford (Kevin) and Susan H. Richardson, both of Decatur; four grandchildren, Leigh Craig King, Lori Kusibab (Jeff), Ashley Richardson and Beau Richardson; five great-grandchildren, Rachel King, Collin King, Cory King, Jackson Kusibab and Hannah Richardson and numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to First Cumberland Presbyterian Church in Rogersville.
