Elbert “Possum” Farley Davis Jr., age 88, of Tuscumbia, died Wednesday, Aug. 29, 2012.

His family will receive friends Sunday, Sep. 2, 2012, 2 until 4 p.m. at First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. His funeral service will follow in the church sanctuary with Barrett Long officiating.

Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Tuscumbia.

Mr. Davis was a native of Tuscumbia and a member of First Baptist Church, Tuscumbia. He served in the Navy during WWII and was retired from TVA. He was an avid golfer at Spring Creek Golf course. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys Hopkins Davis; parents, Ethel and Elbert Davis; and grandson, Daniel Dobbs.

He is survived by his children, Sandra Woodis (James), Deborah Fauver (Jerry), Dana Shell (Floyde), Farley Davis (Janice) and Susan Brown (Keith); brother, John W. Davis; grandchildren, Joshua, Rachel and Rebekah Brown, Matthew and Sarah Woodis, Andrew, Molly, and Adam Fauver, Benjamin Shell, Emily, Marissa and Lee Davis; great-grandchildren, Adrienne Fauver , RyLeigh Fauver; and special friend, Geneva Richardson.

Pallbearers are Joshua Brown, Matthew Woodis, Andrew Fauver, Adam Fauver, Lee Davis and Floyde Shell.

Honorary Pallbearer is Benjamin Shell.
