Corey James Mauter – Obituary

Corey James Mauter, 38, passed away on Sunday, April 16, 2017. The family will receive friends from 10:00 -11:30am on Friday, April 21, 2017, at Goodsprings Baptist Church in Rogersville.  A memorial service begins at11:30am with Bro. Daniel Huntley and Rev. Roy Runkle officiating.  A private burial will follow at Bluewater Cemetery in Killen, AL.  Elkins East Chapel will officiate.

Mr. Mauter was the co-owner of Blank Coffee-Comics-Records of Florence; a former district manager for Sam’s Wholesale Club and was an avid woodworker.  He specialized in crafting furniture.  He was a 1997 graduate of Brooks High School and earned a bachelor of science degree in business from the University of North Alabama.  He had a deep love of music and family.  He cherished the friendships that grew from previously performing as a local musician and as a local business owner.

Mr. Mauter was preceded in death by his mother, Donna Canerday Smith; maternal grandparents, Billy Reed Canerday and Clarene White Evans; paternal grandparents, Joe I. and Mary Mauter; and his devoted puppy Ringo.

He is survived by his father, James Mauter of Killen; sister, Courtney Hatton (Lee) of Lexington; his treasured nephews, Hunter, Hayden, Sawyer and Silas Hatton; and his beloved great-niece and nephews, Reanna Springer, Jaxon Hatton and Henry Hatton.

Active pallbearers will be Hunter Hatton, Hayden Hatton, Sawyer Hatton, Jeremy Cole, Travis Grossheim, and Patrick McDonald.

Silas Hatton, Lee Hatton, Martin Zahnd, Brian, Michael, & Denver Mauter, and Adam Springer will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to PAWS of the Shoals or Lexington High School Band Boosters.
