James Edward “Jimmy” Ray, Jr., 57 of Hartselle, entered into rest on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at his home.

Jimmy was born on November 24, 1959 in Chicago, Illinois. He was a graduate of the 1978 Class of Bolingbrook High School. He went on to serve four years in the United States Army, where he received an Army Commendation Medal for Meritorious Service. He was a member of St. Francis Church for 25 years, and was also active in the Moose Lodge. Jimmy drove trucks most of his life but recently began working in manufacturing and loved it. His grandchildren were his life and he loved being with them always.

A private memorial service will be held at a later time.

Jimmy is survived by his sons, David Ray and his wife Tracy, and William Ray and his wife Heather; father and step-mother, James Edward Ray, Sr. and Bonnie Ray; brothers, Donnie Ray and his wife Janey, and William Ray and his wife Phyllis; sisters, Ann Marie Miller and her husband Gary Charles, Susan Webster and her husband Neal; step-brother, Benjamin Winch and his wife, Kasey; he was “Grandpa Jimmy” to 3 grandchildren, Anthony Ray, Thor Ray and Austin Ray.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Virginia Ray; son, Michael Ray, and brother, Steven Ray.
