Mrs. Ruby Nell Gowen Chastain
Nell Chastain, 88 of Arab, The Ruth Community died Wednesday April 12, 2017 at her residence.
Mrs. Chastain was born March 13, 1929 in Lawrence County Tennessee to William Archie Gowen and Jimmie Leona Higdon Gowen. She married Wendell Chastain on December 20, 1945, they moved to the Ruth Community in 1955. He preceded her in death on September 8, 2006. She enjoyed watching Old Westerns, spending time with her family and working in her flowers and vegetable garden.
Mrs. Chastain was a member of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church.
She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law: Gayle King and Deborah and Roger Head; her grandchildren: Tara and Jody Bagwell and Brandi Jones; great grandchildren: Connor Smith, Colton Smith, Ty Jones, Taylor Jones and Clay Bagwell; her brother and sister -in-law: William Kyle and Karen Gowen; her sister: Sue McCormick; caregiver: Mary Jean Mapes and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband: Wendell Chastain; her parents: William and Jimmie Gowen and a sister: Peggy Ann Burns.
Funeral service will be 4:00 p.m. Saturday April 15, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel with Brother: Steve Funderburk, officiating. Burial will be in Gilliam Springs Cemetery with Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing.
Pallbearers will be Jody Bagwell, Michael Burns, Colton Smith, Connor Smith, Ty Jones and Clay Bagwell.
Visitation will be 3:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m. Saturday April 15, 2017 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, prior to the service.
