Clarence Cleveland – Obituary

Clarence Cleveland, 89, of Golden, MS, cherished husband, father, grandfather, and friend, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, April 11, 2017. He was born December 15, 1927 to Jerry and Beatrice Rogers Cleveland and was the second of fifteen children. He was raised in the community of Fairview, MS and served as a Merchant Marine in World War II on board the Robert S. Lovett. He enjoyed farming, gardening, fishing, hunting, coin collecting, a love for animals, spending time with his wife, children and grandchildren, going to church, and reading his Bible daily. He was a faithful member of the Saucer Creek Church of Christ. He had a great love for his fellow man and was steadfast in his hard work to provide for his family. This is a love story of a great man.
Services will be held at Senter Funeral Home, with visitation Friday night, April 14, 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm. Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 15, 2017, at 2:00 pm with Ministers Bobby Cleveland, Paul Eppler, and Charles Riley officiating. Burial will be in Mt. Vernon Baptist Church Cemetery.
He is survived by his wife Ruby Rogers Cleveland, six children: Charlie Cleveland (Bessie), Linda Jackson (Grover), Johnny Brown, Dennis Brown, Marty Rogers (Lisa), and Patty Burcham (Randy), two brothers: Bill Cleveland (Sue), Wayne Cleveland (Debbie), and three sisters: Kathlene Cox, Earline Strickland, and Opelene Garrison (Wendell), twelve grandchildren: Michelle Ponce, Reggie Cleveland, Jason Brown, Susan Haynes, Jennifer Bodnar, Sherrie Sullivant, Leigh Dias, Candice Letson, Jacob Burcham, Cora Rogers, Dalton Rogers, and Anya Rogers, sixteen great grandchildren: Cole Haynes, Morgan Sykes, Jonathon Woodward, Cassidy Ratcliff, Drew Provins, Brittany Brown, Savanna Ponce, Katie Haynes, Cade Sullivant, Skyler Letson, Tyler Sullivant, Cheyann Letson, Alex Sullivant, Brandon Ponce, Rafe Bodnar, Gabriel Dias, two great great grandchildren: Emma Sykes and Lars Ratcliff, and a multitude of other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Jerry and Beatrice Cleveland, seven brothers: Larry Gene, Bobby, Virgil, Grady, Harold, Rex, and Hazel; two sisters: Charlene and Ravinell; his 1st wife Lindell Crane Brown Cleveland, and daughter-in-law Marcia Pauline Brown.
Pallbearers are Reggie Cleveland, Jason Brown, Cole Haynes, Drew Provins, Randall Sullivant, Jorge Ponce, Keith Letson, and Jonathon Woodward.
