A. Stewart O’Bannon, III, age 62, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Wednesday, March 22, 2017.

Stewart was the eldest son of the late A. Stewart O’Bannon, Jr. and Bettye O’Bannon. Stewart practiced law with his late father at the firm of O’Bannon and O’Bannon in downtown Florence. He played an active part in the community through the Exchange Club, Habitat for Humanity, and many arts organizations. He could also be found singing in full voice in the choir at Trinity Episcopal Church and with the Shoals Chamber Singers. Stewart was very proud to serve as Chairman of The Fred Birdsong Memorial “Couching” Staff. Stew was well known and loved for his wit, wisdom and beautiful Irish tenor voice – all of which he was always ready to share.

Visitation will be on Monday, March 27th at 1pm at Trinity Episcopal Church with a service celebrating his life at 2pm. A private burial will follow.

During the service, there will be an open choir for anyone who would like to raise their voices in memory of Stew. If you would like to sing with the choir, a rehearsal will take place Sunday evening, March 26th, at 6:30pm at Trinity Episcopal Church.

Stewart is survived by his wife of forty years, Sally Summers O’Bannon; his two children Beth (Kelly) Wilson and Sean Michael O’Bannon; his brother Marcus (Chris) O’Bannon; his sister Becky O’Bannon and her children Asa and Catherine; his step-mother Martha O’Bannon; his step-siblings Beth (John) Nicol, Leah (Bob) Gehling, Bob Barnett (Roger Smith); and his step-nieces and step-nephews.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that you consider a donation to one of the following organizations close to Stewart’s heart: The Shoals Chamber Singers, PAWS, Heart of Alabama Save Rescue Adopt or the Florence Lauderdale Animal Shelter. Donations to the Shoals Chambers Singers may be mailed to David Birch at 106 Sandusky Way, Florence, AL, 35630.

Stewart loved the Lord, his family, and his community.
