Thomas Gentry Rickard – Obituary

Mr. Thomas Gentry Rickard, 77, of Florence, passed away on March 19, 2017 at his residence. He was a member of Petersville Church of Christ.  He retired from Wilson High School in 1992. He also taught at Brooks High School and Rogers High School.

The greatest man in the world went home to be with Jesus. He was a husband, a father, a brother, and a grandfather and a friend to all he met.  He was loved by all who knew him and even though our hearts are broken he is in eternal peace and with that we find comfort.

Visitation will be at Petersville Church of Christ on March 21, 2017 from 12-3 p.m. The funeral will begin at 3 p.m. at the church with Sonny Owens and Adam Richardson officiating. Burial will follow in Tri-Cities Memorial Gardens.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Willie Alma Rickard; sisters, Alma Lois Rickard, Loretta Carroll, Rothie Cooper, Louise Fergerson, Charlene Williams, Billie Jean Smith; brothers, David Rickard, Jr., Howard Sidney Rickard, John Robert Rickard, Emett Rickard and Clifford Loyd Rickard.

Survivors include his wife, Linda Mitchell Rickard; son, Thomas Scott Rickard, both of Florence, daughters, Tonya Rickard Thorp of Florence and Dawn Rickard Fry (Jimmie) of Tuscumbia; brothers, Jerry (Joyce) Rickard and Joseph (Juanita) Rickard ; sister, Nancy daVinci all of Florence; grandchildren, Zachary and Karley Thorp, Rachel and Jacob Fry and Evan Rickard.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Zachary Thorp, Jacob Fry, Kevin Wilson, Keith Mitchell, Jim Goldy, Marco Villarreal and Jimmie Fry, Jr.

Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Bob Parks, Louis McAdams, Terry Oakley, Gary Pannell and Jimmie Fry, Sr.
