Willie Whitworth Simmons – Obituary

Willie Whitworth Simmons, age 86, passed away on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at her home in Jasper.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home.  Funeral services will be Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel, with burial at Oak Hill Cemetery.

Mrs. Simmons was preceded in death by her Husband-Gene Simmons and previous husband-D.L. (Buddy) Whitworth; Parents-Lee and Annie Ballentine; Sisters-Cille Whitworth, Bertha Smith, Minnie Hodges and Lula Fisher.

She is survived by her Children-Doris Whitworth Alexander of Arden, NC and Charles David Whitworth of Jasper; Step Children-Gary Simmons (Linda) of Birmingham, Don Simmons and John Simmons both of Jasper, and Tim Simmons of Cullman; Grandchildren-Lori Alexander Young, Jonathan Alexander, Robert Whitworth and Hillary Whitworth; Step Grandchildren-Brittney Macon, Blake Simmons, Bradley Simmons, Ginny Cain, Laura Carlisle, Cheryl Jackson, Elena Dawkins, Brittney Erwin, Jesse Erwin and Johnny Simmons.  She also leaves 23 great grandchildren and step grandchildren.

Retired from Walker Baptist Medical Center, Mrs. Simmons was a member of New Prospect Baptist Church, the Son Shine Singers and a member of the Walker County Rescue Squad, of which her late husband (D.L.) was the founder.  She loved Jasper, and lived here more than sixty years.  She is loved and will be greatly missed by all her family and friends.
