Early Morning Robbery In Athens… Handguns Taken

ATHENS-Athens Police Chief Floyd Johnson released a statement concerning a robbery early this morning, Monday, March 20:

“This morning shortly before 02:00 Officer Megan Meredith found one of the front windows had been broken out of Bradford’s Jewelry and Pawn on South Marion Street. At the present time we believe the burglary occurred between 12:00 midnight and 01:50.

The business is currently doing an inventory. At the current time we believe there were approximately 50 handguns were taken in the burglary.

Our department has asked The Bureau Alcohol Tobacco and Firearms to assist in this investigation.

We’re asking if anyone saw anything that suspicious last night the call the Athens Police Department at 256-233-8700.”
